Hi everyone! This is my second audio update. Give me advice on how you like it and how I can improve it. Also, do you have a question about water that you want me to answer? Ask your question in the comments.
FIRST, I want to give a warning to anyone who has tried to make their own DIY water distiller. There are a number of people on YouTube who provide instructions on how to make a DIY water distiller. These people talk with confidence like they know what they’re talking about, but MOST of them do NOT know what they are talking about. At the minimum, it will be a waste of your time, but worse, these distillers can be outright dangerous. The most common mistake that people make is that they make the distiller out of copper. This is a terrible idea, and it can be dangerous. Yes, copper is the best material for making an alcohol still, but copper should NOT be used for high-purity water. Hot, distilled water will absorb a lot of copper in a very short time, so the result is that you will get a much higher dose of copper that what you should get. Copper doesn’t absorb alcohol because alcohol is an organic molecule, whereas water is inorganic. This is why we are very careful to use only stainless steel in the Survival Still. I explain this in greater detail in my 5-Point Audio Update. If you have been planning to use a DIY water distiller, I suggest a professionally designed Survival Still instead.
SECOND, earlier in the week I recommended an online event from Marjory Wildcraft called the the Home Medicine Summit. It’s been going on all week, and will continue over the weekend. Some of the classes on the schedule for tomorrow include, Protecting Your Heart Health, Turning Trash Trees Into Productive Fruit Trees, Nutrition Hacks For Super Healthy Meat & Milk From Goats, Kombucha & The Human Microbiome and more. See the Home Medicine Summit event here.
THIRD, this week my wife and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary! To celebrate, we went out to dinner, then went home and watched our favorite show on Netflix, “Doc Martin”. It’s a great show. I suggest you check it out!
FOURTH, last week in my audio update I mentioned that on my trip to China I wore my Pick Pocket Proof Pants If you are planning to travel, go to a concert, or go anywhere that many people are gathering, I suggest you get a pair.
FIFTH, as you know, I am paranoid about online security. One of the tools that I use now is Privacy.com. Privacy.com allows you to create single-use credit card numbers on the fly, so if a site gets hacked, such as Target, the hackers won’t get away with your credit card number. I know that this is ironic since I run an online store, but we use PayPal as our payment provider, which is the absolute most secure way to go. If you are as paranoid as I am though, you can use Privacy.com, or you can simply send us a check.
I’d still love your advice on how I can improve these audio notes. If you have comments, or if you have water-related questions that you want me to answer please comment on this page.
