A couple weeks ago I wrote an important letter about my mission regarding water. I asked an important question in that letter, “…in this age of ultra-high tech everything, and a modern lifestyle with conveniences unsurpassed in the world’s history, how can water purity still be one of the most significant problems of the world?”
My answer was “Lack of education.” But I went on to say, “Let me be clear here, I’m not talking about the lack of education for people in third-world countries, I’m talking about OUR lack of education. The people of the world have a water quality problem because WE in the developed countries are not properly educated…From my experience, 99% of people in developed countries have a SHOCKING lack of knowledge about water. This lack of education means that people don’t really understand the problem, and if you don’t understand the problem you can’t solve the problem.”
So today I want to give you an example of this lack of education.
In California, the latest craze is for people to spend a LOT of money to buy “Raw Water”, or in other words, people are drinking untreated ground water. Proponents claim that raw water’s health benefits include naturally occurring minerals and microbes.
Why is “Raw-Water” suddenly so exciting? Because people are woefully uneducated about water, and this lack of education leaves them open to ridiculous marketing schemes and scams. This happens all the time. There are countless water scams, and there always have been.
I want to tell you a quick story of Eben Byers. Eben was a well-known industrialist, athlete and playboy in the early 1900’s. He won the US Amateur Golf Competition in 1906, and he took over his father’s company (Girard Iron Company) at a young age. At the age of 46 he fell and hurt his arm. His doctor (who wasn’t actually a doctor) told him to drink plenty of Radithor, which was water mixed with radium.
Around this time, science didn’t think radiation was harmful. In fact, they thought it might be good for you, or at least that’s what the marketers wanted you to believe. This was energized water! How could you go wrong with energized water?
You could even make your own at home by having a Revigorator, a water dispenser lined with radium (see picture). Back then, doctors made a lot of money by recommending radiated water to their patients.
So back to Eben Byers. He drank 1,400 bottles of this water, his jaw fell off and he quickly died of cancer (yeah, radiation will do that to you).
What’s the connection between Eben Byers and “Raw Water”? Simply ignorance. We can, however, forgive Mr. Byers because science hadn’t really figured out the whole radiation thing yet. But the people drinking “Raw Water”? All the information is there. They should know better.
Untreated water can have countless dangerous contaminants, from arsenic to chemicals to dangerous bacteria and yes, even radioactive metals. The fact is, science KNOWS that certain contaminants can cause serious health problems, from birth defects, to neurological problems to cancer and even death. But these people are choosing to believe marketing nonsense over truth.
I invite you to visit this page if you want to learn about HUNDREDS of other examples of how people have been conned into believing water pseudoscience from snake oil salesmen.
Water is not mystical. It’s not imbued with energy from the earth that will “ground” you or heal you. Water is either clean or it’s not. Yes, it’s this simple.
Your top priority should be to drink clean, pure water; water that does not contain contaminants that will give you cancer or other diseases.
BUT HERE’S MY POINT…the “Raw-Water” craze is a perfect example of one of the main reasons we still have a global water crisis. The root of the problem is OUR LACK OF EDUCATION. If you don’t understand the problem, you can’t fix the problem.
So if you want to help solve the global water crisis while improving your health do these three things…
FIRST, become educated! Study my articles as well as the training I provide on www.EmergencyWater101.com.
SECOND, don’t spread misinformation and call people on the bad advice they are giving to people.
THIRD, support our mission.
